Buying Four Letter Domain .Dot Coms

I caught the 4 letter domain buying bug a while ago. In fact, I’ve been quietly snatching up four letter domain .coms for over a year. This was in response to discovering last June that there were only about 30% of the remaining 4 letter .coms remaining.

People have been steadily buying four letter .com domain names for years in the hopes that they would some day be sold out and increase dramatically in value. That day looks like it may be closer to reality than many think.

To begin with there was originally 456956 four letter domains available. Now according to a popular website dyyo.com, it looks like there are below 30,000 four letter dot com domain names left. Many sources cite the remaining 4 letter domains are being bought at a rate of 5000 to 7000 each month.

At this rate the entire amount of domains will be sold out in a matter of months. While domain valuation is just pure speculation and is highly dependent on what the buyer will pay, many people believe once they are all gone the prices will rise accordingly.

How to pick the best four letter domain dot coms to purchase.

The most highly sought after 4 letter .coms are those that are clearly pronounceable one word domain names. Unfortunately, domains like these were bought out years ago. So, unless you want to spend a fortune it’s necessary to look for the next best thing, 4 letter domains with CVCV or consonant, vowel, consonant, vowel. The most common letters are A,C and S and are quite hard to find. In addition, popular acronyms are also sought after.

I just recently purchased BZJV.com which could stand for Business Joint Venture as well as TZNU.com Teasing You. While these might not be highly valuable at the moment I’ve a few ideas for them and at a registration fee of under $8, it’s a cheaper gamble then any casino.

Time will only tell what will happen when they all sell out. For now I’m using the 4 letter domain search tool at http://dyyo.com to monitor domains as they drop and continue to look for valuable picks.
