Getting Traffic With StumbleUpon
If you haven’t been getting website traffic with StumbleUpon than you’re definitely missing out… One of the most effective no cost ways to get visitors to your website is through the use of social networking sites. Sites like Myspace, Facebook, Digg and StumpleUpon are all great sources of free traffic.
StumbleUpon was founded in 2001 by three guys, Geoff Smith, Garret Camp and Justin La France. Garret camp sums up the Stumble experience as, “Click a button and find something cool.”
The site recently has exploded in popularity resulting an a buyout from Ebay in 2007.
If you’re not familiar with how StumbleUpon works, it’s premise is to discover interesting websites through the StumbleUpon browser. Basically, you install the browser, set your preferences and Stumble different websites.
A thumbs up means you like the site and tells the Stumble browser to send you more sites like that. A thumbs down indicates that you don’t like that particular site and are not interested in seeing more of the same. As you Stumble more sites the browser will get an understanding of your likes and dislikes and send you only sites that you are interested in.
StumbleUpon currently has about 4 1/2 million people signed up. Knowing that, it’s not hard to imagine the potential of using StumbleUpon to deliver targeted traffic to your own site.
While StumbleUpon can be great for finding interesting sites, for internet marketers, it can be used as a very effective marketing tool for exposure and publicity. By submitting your individual website pages and tagging them with appropriate keywords you can get targeted traffic directed to your site.
This traffic can start literally minutes after you submit it and can often reach 500 to 1000 visitors or more, just within the first 12 hours of site submission.
After the initial swarm of website visitors, StumbleUpon site submissions can frequently benefit from traffic spikes. These happen as high level Stumble users encounter your site and thumb it up. This results in another instant flood of website traffic as the people subscribed to the high level Stumbler get your site delivered to their browser due to the thumbs up.
And it doesn’t stop there, the traffic keeps on coming as long as people like your sites content and keep thumbing it up, bringing a continual and automatic flow of website visitors.
Advertisers can pay to have their site delivered through the StumbleUpon system for .05 cents a click which can help propel their submission and get it going viral.
To really make your site submission take off, becoming a paying advertiser is not necessary. What is required is submitting content that people want. The trick is to only submit quality content, that is content that is informative, entertaining, funny or inspiring.
This way your submissions will have the chance of being picked up, thumbed up and reviewed which can result in a massive rush of incoming visitor traffic.
You can find out more about how you can start getting a massive amount of website traffic from Stumbleupon from my new StumbleUpon Traffic ebook. It’s jammed packed with all of the tactics I use to routinely get in excess of 1000 visitors to my websites. I’ll show you exactly how to get the same results.

Yes you experience a flood of traffic but they usually not responsive and give you no money. If you sell products - they arent very targetted. If you earn from PPC - they are net savvy and dont click often. Avg time on page - several seconds.
Overall, the only thing these guys are usefull for is something funny/viral. No regular site benefits from SU traffic.

I’m going to test this on my giveaway website: http://bjthelabmonkey.com We are going to be giving away some iPhone overlays and the increased exposure and traffic is always good for the site. I’ll report back and let you know how it turns out.

Ok so I tried it out and the first couple of times I didn’t really get any traffic. Today however I bookmarked a article and BAM! 220 page loads and 143 unique visitors all in about 3 hours. Now that’s impressive and to boot I got two new subscriptions to my blog. I don’t really sell anything to the visitors of my site but the traffic and affilate money I could make from the increased traffic could be interesting.
So now the question is what is in your book that I have not stumbled into already. If there is some useful information please send me an email and lets talk about what type of stuff I can learn, but for now I’m pretty convinced
